The Indianapolis Colts are preparing to travel to New York for their second game at Met Life Stadium this season, this time to take on the New York Giants in Week 17.

But one of their key starter's availability seemed seriously in doubt after missing Wednesday and Thursday practices.

Anthony Richardson has now missed the Colts' full week of practice ahead of Week 17. That typically doesn't bode well for a player's chances of being active on game day. Only a small group of players in the past have gone a full week without at least being a limited participant in practice, and Richardson hasn't ever done it yet in his young NFL career.

On Thursday, ESPN's Stephen Holder reported that the team was "cautiously optimistic" that Richardson could play against the Giants. However, he also shared in his article that "Richardson's performance in Friday's practice would be critical." Now we know he attended practice without his helmet and will most likely log another day without practice ahead of Week 17. So, it's fair to say Richardson's chances of playing in Week 17 have taken a significant hit. And with the Colts having to win the rest of the way, along with some help from others, this is the definition of a must-win.
