DeForest Buckner has a back injury to monitor ahead of Week 2

Buckner led a highly productive Colts pass rush that had four sacks in the game, totaling 1.5 sacks. Near the end of the game, you could see Buckner was in quite a bit of pain, which is notable when you know Buckner is as tough as they come. He's been known to play through significant pain without showing it over the years.
The team gave Buckner more rest plays than we've typically seen during Week 1, especially with him not holding any injury designation coming into this game after he had a full week of practice.
Hopefully, this back injury is minor and will not keep the Colts' captain off the field. I would expect that Buckner will probably only have a partial, at best, practice week ahead of Week 2. But as I said earlier, we've seen Buckner miss an entire practice week and still suit up on game day.
If the injury is severe enough to hold Buckner out of the game, the Colts would likely have a rotation of players to fill the massive hole his absence would create. They'd likely use edge rushers Dayo Odeyingbo and Tyquann Lewis' versatility to play inside and give second-year DT Adetomiwa Adebawore more snaps.
Anthony Richardson’s heroics fall just short as the Colts lose their season opener to the Texans
The Indianapolis Colts received mixed reviews throughout the NFL world. People weren't quite sure what type of team to expect them to be in 2024. While they fell short in Week 1, they held their own with a Texans team that many label a Super Bowl contender. And there are multiple good and bad takeaways […]
Colts QB Anthony Richardson completed one of the best throws the NFL has ever seen during Week 1 of the season
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is back from injury, but I think it's safe to say his shoulder is just fine. Richardson completed one of the prettiest throws the NFL has ever seen during the first quarter of Week 1 for the Colts first touchdown of the 2024 season. Anthony Richardson is already a nominee for […]
