Not only do they not get to celebrate victory Monday this week, but news has broke that they will likely be without one of their best players for their Week 13 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Colts WR Josh Downs is considered a long shot to play vs. the Patriots In Week 13

The Colts drafted Josh Downs in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he went on to have a solid rookie season with 771 yards and two touchdowns. This year, he's been the Colts' top wide receiver, leading the team with 50 receptions and four touchdowns, and is second on the team with 567 yards.
During the Colts' loss to the Lions, Downs stayed down on the ground after a hit, and he was holding his shoulder. After being looked at on the field for an extensive amount of time, he was able to leave the field on his own and go into the blue tent. He ended up coming back in the game to return punts and play WR, so many thought the bullet was dodged. But now the news is out that he did suffer an injury and is considered "week to week." With the upcoming matchup against the Patriots viewed as a "long shot."
It's incredible that he was able to come back into the game and continue to perform all of his roles now that we know he suffered an injury. Downs displayed just how tough he is, even though those who cover the team have had no doubts in that regard. Hopefully, this injury will only last one week. Thankfully, the team has its bye week in Week 14, so that would give him a two-week break before their must-win game in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos.
With him out, the Colts will likely turn to rookie Adonai Mitchell for a larger role. Mitchell has flashed over the last couple of weeks in limited snaps. It'll be interesting to see if the Colts also choose to make rookie Anthony Gould active. He is the team's best option to fill Downs' role as the team's returner and give the team an additional slot WR if needed.
A Colts star finally looks like himself again and it’s exactly what the team needs as they fight for a playoff spot
The Indianapolis Colts couldn't pull off the upset in Week 12 over the Detroit Lions. While their offense struggled to get into any form of rhythm during the game, one player showed up in a big way. And what makes this performance even sweeter is that the player has been struggling on the field due […]
A Colts starter should be benched following his most recent poor performance in the team’s Week 12 loss to the Lions
The Indianapolis Colts had the tough task of slowing down the red-hot Detroit Lions in Week 12. A task they fell short of completing with them, dropping to 5-7 on the year due to a 24 to 6 loss. There will be a lot of talk about Richardson's completion percentage this week, but the blame truly falls […]
