The Indianapolis Colts know they will be without star RB Jonathan Taylor for the next few weeks.
As he is set to have surgery today. The Colts won't have their typical Wednesday practice, as they've elected to hold a walkthrough instead.
While we know the status of Taylor, multiple key player's statuses will be revealed on the Colts official injury report following their walkthrough. Since there is no practice, teams release an estimation of what a player's practice status would have been if there was one. The team then shares their thought process of where certain players are health-wise. Some players whose status will be important to monitor throughout the week will be CB Juju Brents (quad), TE Drew Ogletree (foot), and C Ryan Kelly (concussion).
Wednesday Walkthrough Injury Report:
Full Partipants:
- Ryan Kelly
- Drew Ogletree
- Bernhard Raimann
The Colts feeling good enough to list Ryan Kelly and Drew Ogletree as full participants after missing last week's game. With Kelly still in the NFL's concussion protocol, he will still need to physically practice but being listed as a full participant today is a giant step in the right direction towards him returning this week.
Limited Participant:
DeForest Buckner
DeForest Buckner seems to be dealing with a shoulder issue that made the Colts feel the need to list him as a limited participant during today's walkthrough. Buckner has been someone who notoriously still finds a way to play even without practicing at all during the week. So I wouldn't be too worried just about his possible availability this week.
Did Not Practice:
- Juju Brents
- Jonathan Taylor
- Isaiah McKenzie
The Colts feel three players would have been held out if there had been a practice today. Jonathan Taylor shouldn't shock anyone after having surgery on his thumb today. According to head coach Shane Steichen, Juju Brents is making "progress" but apparently isn't quite ready to return to the field. Isaiah McKenzie is dealing with a toe issue, which is a new injury that will be one to monitor throughout the week.
