The Indianapolis Colts are coming off a disappointing outing against the Atlanta Falcons.
And as they begin their practice week for Week 17, they will look to get healthier and get better.
The Colts began the week with the devasting news that safety Julian Blackmon would go on the IR due to his recent shoulder injury, which is a big blow to the team's defense. While they know his status going forward, they will still monitor players such as RT Braden Smith, WR Michael Pittman Jr., and RB Zack Moss. With the team holding a walkthrough on Wednesday, we will get to see how they currently view those players and their injuries.
Wednesday Injury Report:
Did Not Practice:
- Cameron McGrone
- D.J. Montgomery
With the lack of WRs on the roster, not having D.J. Montgomery, who has had some bright moments in recent weeks, would be a bigger deal than some would realize. Montgomery can play special teams, as well as a WR for the team. We will see how the next two days of practice go for him and LB Cameron McGrone.
Light Participant:
- Zack Moss
- Segun Olubi
- Michael Pittman Jr.
All three of them, RB Zack Moss, LB Segun Olubi, and WR Michael Pittman Jr., missed the team's Week 16 matchup with the Falcons. Seeing all three listed as a limited participant is a big step in the right direction for their possible availability in Week 17. Now that we have seen what the Colts offense looks like without Pittman Jr., I think I speak for everyone when I say I don't want to see it again.
Full Participant:
- Jack Anderson
- Braden Smith
- Ameer Speed
A huge development from the Colts' walkthrough on Wednesday is them listing RT Braden Smith as a full participant. This means the team believes Smith's injury has progressed significantly, as this would have been his first practice since his injury against the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. We will have to wait till Thursday for him actually to log his first practice, but with today's report, it's looking good for Smith.
The Colts signed a familiar face to replace Julian Blackmon
