You know the football season is close when EA Sports begins releasing Madden ratings for the upcoming video game.
As part of the release, they have been releasing two position groups a day until the ratings for every player in the game are made public.
One of the position groups to already be released is running back, and the Madden 25's official account shared the top 10 RBs in the upcoming game, which didn't include Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor.
Jonathan Taylor's Madden rating
Taylor didn't make the top 10 graphic even though his 87 overall rating is tied with Kansas City Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco.
Last season, Taylor started slowly. He missed the start of the season on the Colts PUP list and Weeks 13 through 15, making his season game total only 10. But looking at his final four games in 2023, it was evident that Taylor was back to being one of the true elite RBs in the NFL. He recorded 418 of his 741 yards in 2023 during his final four games and scored five of his seven touchdowns during that span. He saved his best for last in the Colts season finale against the Houston Texans. Where Taylor was gashing Houston's defense turning 30 carries into 188 yards and a touchdown.
When looking at the RB position across the NFL, I think after Christian McCaffery, there is a large group that deserves to be in the same ballpark rating-wise, which should include Taylor. At this stage of their careers, seeing Derick Henry come in with a rating seven overalls higher than Taylor is wild to me. Also, seeing players like Joe Mixon, Josh Jacobs, Kenneth Walker, Aaron Jones, and Isiah Pacheco ranked higher or have the same overall as Taylor makes absolutely no sense to me.
These early ratings are flat-out disrespectful to Taylor, but thankfully, ratings are adjusted throughout the season, and where you finish is significantly more important than where you start. And with a scary rushing duo of Taylor and Anthony Richardson set to lead the Colts' offense, I strongly believe Taylor will see a large rating bump by year's end.
The Colts signed a UFL standout defensive lineman
The Indianapolis Colts have had multiple defensive linemen leave practice with injuries to start training camp, including Samson Ebukam heading to the IR. They have now added some help in the room while multiple players nurse injuries in UFL standout Levi Bell. Bell started his college career in 2020 with Louisiana Tech, where he spent […]
There is now video proof that the Colts tried to trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft
The Indianapolis Colts drafted UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu with the 15th pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. But before they turned in that card, they had their eyes on moving into the top 10. The newest episode of this year's offseason Hard Knocks series, which follows the New York Giants, showed […]
