The Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers Week 2 matchup looks significantly different than expected.
Both sides are without key starters. The Colts will be without two of their best players from their already struggling secondary, while the Packers will be without their star quarterback, Jordan Love.
Colts Week 2 inactive players
The Colts' secondary took a massive blow this week with the news that second-year cornerback Juju Brents was being placed on the IR, and the team also ruled starting strong safety Julian Blackmon "out" for Week 2 after he missed the entire practice week with a shoulder injury. The Colts will look to veteran Ronnie Harrison Jr. to fill in as a starting safety opposite of Nick Cross, but their plan to replace Brents is still unclear. They could give the Week 1 starter in 2023, Dallis Flowers, a chance to show his poor performances in the preseason are behind him, but the team elected to make him a healthy scratch in Week 1 against the Houston Texans.
The team will also be without starting slot WR Josh Downs for the second week in a row. Downs continues to work his way back from a high ankle sprain he suffered early into training camp. The Colts will lean on the trio of Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell as their primary options in the receiving game.
Packers Week 2 Inactive players
The Packers had multiple key players show up on the team's injury report during practice this week, but all but one of them are going to suit up against the Colts today. Unfortunately, it will be their most important player, with starting QB Jordan Love set to leave their Week 1 loss in the game's closing minutes. The Packers left Love's status up in the air all week long, but I think we can call that for what it is: gamesmanship. No one expected Love actually to give it a go this week, but now it is official: the Colts will face former Tennessee Titans QB Malik Willis.
The Colts are elevating a practice squad player that many thought would make the team’s 53-man roster
The Indianapolis Colts are monitoring multiple injuries ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Following practice on Friday, the team elected to rule starting free safety Julian Blackmon out. With the Colts down a safety the, the team announced they are elevating veteran safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. The Colts aren't elevating […]
Reggie Wayne doesn’t think Peyton Manning could have made the play Anthony Richardson did during the Colts season opener
While the Indianapolis Colts started the season with yet another Week 1 loss, they saw their young quarterback, Anthony Richardson, make some elite throws. Including his 60-yard bomb to Alec Pierce, which many have called the best throw they've ever seen in an NFL game. Colts legend and current wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne was asked if he has ever […]
