The Indianapolis Colts ruled starting cornerback Kenny Moore II out of Week 4 following Friday's practice.

This means they will be without their top two CBs in Week 4, as Juju Brents is already on the injured reserve. So, they decided they needed some extra help against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

The Colts announced that they elevated two players from their practice squad, one being veteran CB David Long Jr.

Colts elevate CB David Long Jr. for Week 4

The Colts signed Long Jr. to their practice squad ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Houston Texans. However, he has yet to make his debut with the team. This move, though, likely sets him up to play his first snaps as a member of the Colts.

Long's NFL career began in 2019 after being drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He played out his entire rookie contract through the 2022 season with the Rams before moving on last year. He started 2023 with the Las Vegas Raiders, but before the year ended, he would also play for the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers.

In his five-year career, he has appeared in 66 games and made 12 starts. He has recorded one interception and six pass breakups. He has been targeted 109 times in his career, and he has allowed 75 receptions for 914 yards and four touchdowns. He has experience playing as an outside CB and in the slot, though he has mainly played outside, with 947 outside snaps and only 157 snaps played in the slot.

Long most recently spent training camp and the preseason with the New York Giants. He played in two preseason games, where he played 39 defensive snaps. He was targeted four times in coverage and allowed three catches for 29 yards. I would expect the Colts to make Long active for Week 4, and I wouldn't be shocked if we see him play significant snaps at corner by the time the game ends.
