Pressure is on for a specific position group to step up if the Colts are going to pick up a win in Week 7 vs. the Chargers
The key to a Colts victory in Week 7 over the Chargers is from a specific position group on the defense
The 5-1 Indianapolis Colts are looking to improve their win streak to three in a row for the second time this season in Week 7. The team is on the road this week to take on the Los Angeles Chargers, and both are going to be without key starters. For example, the Colts will be without WRs Josh Downs and Ashton Dulin. This will give Adonai Mitchell the chance to get out of the dog house after his mistakes in the same stadium vs. the Los Angeles Rams earlier this year cost the team their only loss of the season.
The Chargers will be without star LT Joe Alt again this week, and his backup, Trey Pipkins, is also inactive. This puts pressure on the Colts’ edge room to dominate up front. And with the current state of the CB room, the Colts’ ability to generate pressure may truly make or break the result of today’s game.

Colts pass rush needs to step up in Week 7
After a freak pre-game accident, Charvarius Ward landed in the NFL’s concussion protocol, and the Colts later decided to place their star CB on the IR. He will now be forced to miss the team’s next four matchups, including this one. Ward has been arguably the team’s most important defensive player this season. He’s been able to blanket opposing WRs, and when he is out, they’ve had two notable holes in the secondary.
The team gets Kenny Moore II back this week, but the pressure is on the defensive line to take advantage of the banged-up Chargers’ offensive line. The Colts can’t give a QB like Justin Herbert the time to dice them up. They need to force him to make quick decisions, which can lead to mistakes. If the Colts’ pass rush, led by Laiatu Latu and Deforest Buckner, can disrupt the Chargers’ offense early and often, it could very well end up being the difference maker the team needs to leave Los Angeles with the win.
