The Indianapolis Colts have a lot to like with how their 2024 NFL Draft class has performed so far this season.

One of the brightest spots from the class early in the season was the play from their fifth-round pick, Jaylon Carlies, at linebacker. Sadly, Carlies suffered a lower leg injury during the team's Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins and was placed on inured reserve on October 26th.

Thankfully, the NFL has changed the rules of the IR list a few times over the years, which has allowed him to return if his injury heals accordingly. Just ahead of the team's Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans, the Colts activated the rookie LB off IR and brought him back on their active roster.

Not only did Carlies return from injury this week, but he picked up where he left off before being placed on the IR. He led the Colts with 10 total tackles, six solo, and one tackle for loss. And with the Colts' missing starter, EJ Speed, him stepping up was exactly what the Colts needed.

The Colts have a big decision to make in the offseason, as Speed is set to become a free agent. Whether he returns or the team moves on, Carlies has shown himself to be someone the team should give a chance to play a bigger role in their final two games this season and potentially in 2025.
