Colts set franchise single-game rushing record vs. the Titans

The Colts finished Week 16 with 335 rushing yards as a team. This surpassed their previous record of 318, which was set in (maybe you should sit down for this one) 1958. The team was still in Baltimore when they set this record; their previous record since moving to Indianapolis was 299 and was set in 1985.

Of course, the leader on the day was Jonathan Taylor, who finished with 218 rushing yards on 29 carries and found the endzone thrice. They also got solid production from Anthony Richardson, who turned nine rushes into 70 yards and a touchdown.

The team used this effort to jump out to a 38-7 lead in the third quarter before taking their foot off the gas pedal a bit, which allowed the Titans to make this one look closer than it really was. This type of rushing effort against a really strong Titans run defense is another reminder that right now, the run game needs to be the catalyst of the Colts' offense. And with every game a must-win down the stretch, I hope this performance is a sign of what is to come.
