The next chapter of the standoff between the Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor began Monday night.
As Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Colts have permitted Jonathan Taylor to search for a trade partner.
So what exactly does this new development mean for both the Colts and Jonathan Taylor's next steps?
What's Next?
Jonathan Taylor and his representation will now be able to speak to other NFL team's to see if any would be willing to 1. Trade for the RB, and 2. Pay him his desired amount in a contract extension.
The Colts granting Taylor this freedom doesn't necessarily guarantee that a trade will come to fruition. For example, the Los Angeles Chargers granted the same liberty to RB Austin Ekeler earlier this offseason, and he is still a Charger.
Colts Owner Jim Irsay has made it clear that the team has no interest in trading the back away. We will now have to wait and see if a team will offer a package to change the team's mind.
