Today, we will see the Indianapolis Colts first injury report of the 2023 regular season.

The Colts will post three days of injury reports ahead of their matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Beginning today and going until Friday.

While it's still the first week of the NFL season, there are already multiple key things to watch for on the Colts upcoming injury report.

Things to look for on the Colts first injury report:

Will the offensive line be back to full health

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen multiple of the Colts starting offensive linemen miss practices and even preseason action. This includes three of the team’s starting offensive linemen: RT Braden Smith, C Ryan Kelly, and RG Will Fries.

Getting this unit back to full health should be of the utmost importance. Rookie QB Anthony Richardson is set to take his first regular-season snaps this week. While the Colts healthy offensive line still has questions surrounding it, relying on any of the teams depth pieces this early would not be ideal for Richardson or the Colts.

More clarity on Zack Moss’ chances of playing Sunday

Jan 1, 2023; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss (21) carries the ball against the New York Giants during the first half at MetLife Stadium.

One of the biggest surprises from this past week is the notion that RB Zack Moss could actually be ready to go this week. This speculation comes after head coach Shane Steichen shared that he is hopeful that Mos is out there Week 1.

Since Steichen's comment above though, there has been no further information on Moss' status. When Moss himself was asked, he elected to say "no comment". Those secrets will have to end this week as the team's injury report should shine a light on Moss' situation. His recovery from a broken arm seems to be ahead of schedule, but could he actually suit up on Sunday? If he is going to play, you'd expect the team would need to see him in practice a decent amount this week to feel comfortable giving him the grunt of the rushing load Sunday.

Is Shaquille Leonard out of concussion protocol?

The most significant development to watch for this week is when/if LB Shaquille Leonard gets out of the NFL’s concussion protocol. Getting a healthy Leonard on the field would be huge for the team’s chances on Sunday. Any time the LB is on the field, a game-changing play seems to be on the horizon.

As much practice as possible for the star LB to get back to full game speed is crucial. But it all starts with the LB being able to get out of concussion protocol to be able to be a full participant in practice. I expect all eyes to be watching for this development when the Colts release their first injury report later today and something that will be monitored the rest of the week as well.

After the Colts post their first injury report of the year, be on the lookout for my overall thoughts/takeaways. And stay tuned for even more content throughout this week to best prepare yourself for the Colts season opener on Sunday.
