The 2024 season has come and gone for the Indianapolis Colts following their overtime win in Week 18 over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Overall, the Colts' season was disappointing, as they fell short of their goals of winning the AFC South and making the playoffs. While this won't fix everything for fans, we now know that two players truly risked their bodies by playing through major injuries this season.

Michael Pittman Jr. played through a fractured back this season

Earlier this season, a report stated that Michael Pittman Jr. was expected to go on the IR due to a back injury he suffered. He later showed up and practiced the very same day. He went on to miss only one game, though you could tell he was playing nowhere near 100%, and it showed up in his production.

Now, he has shared with the media that he has played through a back fracture that he learned about in Week 3 of the regular season. But first experienced pain in the area way back in training camp during joint practices with the Arizona Cardinals. This diagnosis should put Pittman's lack of production during the middle part of the season into perspective. His teammates certainly respect the sacrifice and display the toughest Pittman displayed by continuing to play.

Julian Blackmon played through a torn labrum this season

After a career year in 2023, many were excited to see Julian Blackmon resign with the Colts heading into the 2024 season. This year, though, hasn't gone as well for Blackmon, who has struggled at multiple points during the year.

His entire process has just looked off, especially in comparison to 2023, where we saw him at his best. Now, at least, we may know why. Blackmon shared that he has been playing through a torn right labrum since Week 1 of the season. He is already preparing to have surgery and risked making it worse by playing but did so anyway.
