The Indianapolis Colts used a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft because of his ability as a kick/punt returner.

His rookie season started with a few mental errors in the return game. The biggest came when he didn't bring a kick out of the endzone to force the two-minute warning in a close game against the Chicago Bears. Which ultimately led to him being a healthy scratch for nine straight weeks.

He's been active for three straight games and is showing the Colts and their fan base that he is far and away the best returner on their roster.

Anthony Gould is the clear best return specialist on the Colts' roster

The Colts haven't had many next-level return specialists in their history. But in my humble opinion, Gould has begun to flash that type of potential over the past two weeks. He's had one return in both games, and you see, he is essentially one man away from taking it to the house. I wouldn't be shocked to see him finally get one during the team's final two games.

Yes, I said the final two games because, in my opinion, the Colts should, without a doubt, keep him active on game day going forward. I know the main reason he's been on the field lately is due to injuries in the WR room. All signs point to them having everyone back this week, which could lead them to make Gould inactive once again. But to me, making Gould the primary returner will help keep Downs healthy and fresh at WR. As I've said multiple times in this article already, Gould is the clear best returner on this team. So, it's time they act like it and look elsewhere for their inactive list in Week 17.
