Jacksonville Jaguars' new head coach Liam Coen has strong message for fans after awkward first moment that went viral

The first day was a bit weird, I think we can all admit that. When the Jacksonville Jaguars first hired Liam Coen to be their new head coach for the 2025 season, and hopefully beyond that, I think many people instantly got very excited. And, that's okay, that's normal and completely expected. But, I think during that excitement, and the awkward moment he had surely didn't help, we missed some of the things Coen was really saying.
Even after his introductory press conference, Coen was saying some very powerful things that should have fans thinking very positively and in the right direction for the future of the franchise. This franchise has seen a lot of bad, and the franchise hasn't been around all that long if you think about it. So, this fan base deserves some good.
And that's what Coen was preaching during his introductory press conference. The guy is a bit goofy, and the Duval chant was a bit weird, but you have to think — the dude has never done the chant or anything like that, and all he cares about is football.
The Jaguars' new head coach had a powerful message for the fans even after all that, as the Jaguars released a new one-on-one interview with him on their Instagram.
Jaguars HC Liam Coen has strong message
"I think that they would like to hear, first and foremost, that, we want to put together a product that they are proud of," Coen told J.P. Shadrick. "And, what does that look like? What we just mentioned in terms of that acronym, but toughness and adversity.
"Everyone goes through adversity in their life, whether it's a town, a city, a community, or an organization, well, we are all at the point right now where we have to see some results and get this thing back on track. And, I hope that they would know that resiliency is there, that care factor and trust that hopefully we can build upon, but I'm very committed trying to get this thing right for this city and for this organization."
The Jaguars have their quarterback, they have their two cornerstone players on defense, and you could even argue a third with cornerback Tyson Campbell. They have a cornerstone receiver in Brian Thomas Jr. with Evan Engram as the tight end. They still need a lot, but the pieces are there for them to be a good team.
Now that they have their coach and a bit of a reset, it will be exciting to see how this team does in 2025.
At this point, they could make the playoffs if all goes well. The AFC South is a poor division, and we really don't know how the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, and even the Houston Texans will look as they just hired a new offensive coordinator.
