All NFL teams must have their rosters trimmed down from 90 to 53 players by Tuesday’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are facing some tough decisions with several of their players. However, there are two in particular that they could gain some capital from by trading them. A to Z Sports analysts Wendell Ferreira and Kyle Crabbs named their top trade candidates from around the league, and listed one offensive and one defensive player from the Jags.

RB Travis Etienne

From Wendell Ferreira: “We would have Brian Robinson on this list, but he was traded on Friday to the San Francisco 49ers for a sixth-round pick. The Jags may or may not want to trade Etienne, and if they do, it will probably demand a slightly higher compensation, but he hasn’t been more efficient than the other backs they have, especially Tank Bigsby. A positive receiver, the former first-round pick could benefit from a change of scenery to a team that involves the running backs more in the passing game.”

Etienne was productive in 2022 and 2023, recording more than 1,000 yards rushing and at least 300 receiving yards in each year. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get going in 2024, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry and finding the end zone only twice. A hamstring injury cost him two games and may have nagged him throughout the season.

It seems harsh to move on from him after one down year, but he is entering the final year of his contract, and Jacksonville has a couple of capable backs in Tank Bigsby and Bhayshul Tuten behind him. Gaining a potential solid draft pick for Etienne might be better than keeping him in the long run.

LB Chad Muma

From Kyle Crabbs: “Muma is a former Day 2 draft selection who is comfortably off the pace of the starters in Jacksonville. Entering into the final year of his rookie contract, Muma could potentially offer some intrigue to teams who think they can unlock the player many thought he was capable of being coming out of Wyoming. He’s owed $1.444 million in 2025, making him a viable economic add for any team in the league, but the market here is dependent on someone who was enamored with him in the pre-draft process back in 2022.”

The Jags were intrigued by Muma’s athleticism and high motor when they drafted him in 2022, but he hasn’t developed into the player that they hoped. Muma has just seven starts in three years and is getting buried on the depth chart after struggling during the preseason.

Jacksonville should have plenty of suitors for Muma should he be placed on the trade block. Despite his shortcomings, he provides solid depth at multiple linebacker positions and can play special teams. Flipping him for a Day 3 pick is a no-brainer at this point.
