Jeff Hafley‘s Miami Dolphins coaching staff is starting to fill up.
The Dolphins made a number of coaching commitment on Wednesday, including a new offensive line coach as Butch Barry heads west to follow Mike McDaniel, and another addition to “Packers South” as yet another assistant makes the migration from Green Bay. The latest addition continues yet another trend for Hafley’s staff — valuable insight on helping to close the gap against one of Miami’s most bitter rivals.
Dolphins hire Buffalo cornerbacks coach Jahmile Addae to same role in Miami
Buffalo Bills cornerbacks coach Jahmile Addae is now Miami Dolphins cornerbacks coach Jahmile Addae, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The addition of Addae to the staff is a notable one because he is now the second assistant coach to make the leap from Buffalo to Miami under Hafley — the first being former Bills special teams coordinator Chris Tabor. Tabor had one season in Buffalo but offers extensive experience in the NFL as a coordinator, whereas Addae has coached the last two years with the Bills but before that offers significant college experience.
The college coaching should help Addae in his efforts in Miami — the Dolphins are a team that is committed under general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan to building through the draft. As Miami introduces waves to new, young talent to Miami, coaches that can connect with fresh out of college athletes could be better equipped to maximize the Hafley/Sullivan messaging.
That is, of course, in theory. We’ll see how it plays out in practice. But Addae still comes with a respected reputation after the last two years in Buffalo, where he helped the Bills continue their strong defensive play. He’ll now be charged with helping to form a formidable secondary in Miami and, hopefully, aid in some wins over those Bills for years to come.
