Kansas City Chiefs host wide range of intriguing 2026 NFL Draft prospects for the team’s annual local pro day
The Kansas City Chiefs hosted 37 2026 NFL Draft prospects for their local pro day on Tuesday, April 7, ranging from surefire draft picks to intriguing priority free agents.
The Kansas City Chiefs hosted 37 2026 NFL draft prospects on Tuesday, April 7, at The University of Kansas Health System Sports Medicine and Performance Center. Those prospects came to the Arrowhead Stadium campus for the team’s annual local prospect day.
The local pro day is an essential part of Chiefs GM Brett Veach’s pre-draft process because he insists on not allowing top talent to leave his own backyard. Not everyone invited to the pro day will participate in the workouts. Those who competed at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine often stand on their timed drills. Sometimes, it’s just another opportunity for prospects to meet and make an impression.
What makes a “local” prospect? They either attended a high school in the Kansas City metropolitan area or played for a university within a certain radius. They’ll host some surefire top-100 draft picks, but also prospects who are more likely to join NFL clubs as undrafted free agents.
Several players who have attended past Chiefs’ local pro days have been signed as undrafted free agents or invited to the team’s rookie minicamp in May. Last year, the team invited Kansas S Marvin Grant Jr. and Central Missouri QB Zach Zebrowski to the team’s rookie minicamp. In the past, they’ve signed undrafted free agents such as CB Ekow Boye-Doe and TE Gerrit Prince.
You might recall that there are quite a few local Kansas City prospects likely to be selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Below is a quick look at players confirmed to have attended the Chiefs’ local pro day this year.
2026 NFL Draft prospects slated to attend Chiefs’ local prospect day
Missouri WR Kevin Coleman Jr.
This one has been on folks’ radar for a bit. The 5-foot-10 and 179-pound receiver turned some heads at the Senior Bowl. At the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, he posted a 38.5-inch vertical jump and 126-inch broad jump, and a 4.49s 40-yard dash. In his lone season at Missouri, Coleman caught 66 passes for 732 yards and one touchdown.

Wyoming TE John Michael Gyllenborg
Here’s what we wrote about Gyllenborg ahead of the combine:
Wyoming TE John Michael Gyllenborg played at Rockhurst, where basketball was his primary sport. He only played three games of high school football before making the jump to the next level. At 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, he’s registered 80 catches for over 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns over the past four seasons for the Cowboys. He’s someone poised to make some money at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, as he came in at No. 54 on Bruce Feldman’s annual freaks list: “He’s hit 21.6 mph and his flying 10-yard time of 0.93 seconds is impressive, as are his 37-inch vertical and 10-8 broad jump. He squatted 500 pounds, benched 350 (up 25 pounds from last year) and cleaned 335.”
