Could this be Travis Kelce's final season on the football field?
According to Michele Tafoya, she seems to think so.
The reporter told CBSSportsRadio that she expects Kelce to retire following the 2023 season.
"I think he's looking at future plans," Tafoya said. "I could totally see those two doing a Payton and Eli Manning sort of gig maybe on Peacock."
This comes after it's expected that his brother Jason Kelce will also retire following the team's first-round exit from the playoffs. It has already been reported by some, but the Eagles center has yet to make it official.
Doesn't sound like Travis Kelce agrees
While this rumor has popped up just before the Chiefs matchup against the Bills, Kelce has been asked about this possibility recently and the tight end didn't seem like he's ready to hang up his cleats yet.
"I just have no reason to stop playing football, man. I love it," Kelce said. "We still have success (and) come in with the right mindset. I just love the challenge it brings me to be at my best. Like I said, I have no desire to stop anytime soon."
The Chiefs have struggled this season offensively, with Kelce finishing just shy of 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since the 2015 season. However, he was only 16 yards away.
So that doesn't sound like he's really slowing down all that much.
And he happens to be one of Mahomes' favorite targets, so the quarterback would certainly miss him out there if he retires.
Kelce's life has changed drastically this season since he and Taylor Swift went public with their relationship. The singer's popularity led to Kelce being thrown into the spotlight even more than he already was. And the duos differing schedules may have something to do with these rumors.
But Kelce is a true competitor, and Swift clearly supports his career.
So it doesn't seem like he's going to stop until he can't give it his all anymore.
