NFLPA report leak exposes a positive truth about the Las Vegas Raiders that’s not being talked about enough
The Raiders are closer to being the perfect franchise than people realize.
Let’s face it: the Las Vegas Raiders have been a punchline in the NFL for years—some would even argue for two decades, depending on your measure of success. Still, you cannot go 20-plus years without winning a playoff game.
Consistent wins can dramatically enhance a franchise’s reputation, and that opportunity exists for the Raiders. Recent NFLPA report cards shared by ESPN indicate that the Raiders are, in some respects, closer to the league’s elite than many may realize.
Raiders get near-perfect NFLPA report card
Looking at the Raiders’ report card from the NFLPA, it’s obvious they have perfected nearly everything. There are two things they simply cannot get that are holding them back from being one of the best franchises in football: winning and coaching. Players from last year graded the Raiders, and their grades came back excellent. They had the sixth-best overall report card.
Coaching held them back from being No. 1 in a major way.

The head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and special teams coordinator all scored lower than a B-, whereas the strength and conditioning coaches, AJ Neibel and Duece Gruden, received excellent grades. Besides coaching, the only other area needing improvement is team travel, which is rated a B—though it’s still strong.
Chip Kelly, the former offensive coordinator, having an F grade, speaks volumes about what the Raiders had going on offense. That was the league’s worst offensive unit, and their coach, who received an F grade, says he just wasn’t doing a good job. Once again, it seems this franchise is making all the right decisions, except for those involving coaching. If they can get that right this go around, start winning football games, and keep all of these other grades near the top, we are talking about maybe one of the best run franchises in the NFL.
