Pete Carroll can use the Seahawks to help with one of his biggest decisions as the Raiders head coach

It's no secret the Las Vegas Raiders have been pretty bad on offense the last few years. So, why not go and hire a defensive-minded head coach in Pete Carroll, and let him find that bright mind for the offensive coordinator position? In all honesty, we don't know what Carroll will do with the staff. We have some ideas, but at the same time, he may not want the same approach as the one he had when he last coached the Seattle Seahawks.
This time around, he may want to go with an experienced play called on offense, a guy who is going to get the job done and won't surprise anyone. Or, he could go with the innovative, young brilliant mind, a guy that not many fans know about, but one that he could put into position to potentially take over when he is done.
But, we do know one guy that new general manager John Spytek and Carroll may be eying, and Carroll's former team, the Seahawks, may help him with that.
Raiders HC Pete Carroll should look at Jake Peetz for O
Jake Peetz is a respected coach who has made significant contributions to both NFL and college football. His career has seen him take on various roles, demonstrating his adaptability and deep understanding of the game. Peetz kicked off his coaching career at the college level before making his mark in the professional ranks of the NFL.
His NFL tenure began with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012, where he was an offensive assistant and assistant quarterbacks coach. Since then, he has moved through several organizations, including a stint with the Washington Commanders in 2014, followed by three years with the Oakland Raiders from 2015 to 2017. His time with the Carolina Panthers in 2019 and 2020 was particularly impactful; as running backs coach in 2019, he helped Christian McCaffrey achieve All-Pro status with record-setting performances.
After serving as quarterbacks coach in 2020, Peetz briefly returned to college football in 2021 as LSU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He then rejoined the NFL, becoming an offensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, where he was promoted to pass game specialist in 2023, contributing to one of the league's top passing offenses. In February 2024, he took on the role of pass game coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.
Working under coaches like Sean McVay, Peetz's coaching style and offensive genius is one that will be looked at as a coveted name for other teams trying to find their next offensive coordinator, and believe me, there are a ton. Peetz could just be the next up-and-coming guy, kind of like Ben Johnson was for the Detroit Lions.
