Pete Carroll's history in the NFL

Pete Carroll has carved out a remarkable career in the NFL, most notably as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll's entry into the NFL coaching scene was as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 1994, under head coach Bruce Coslet. His initial role as an NFL head coach came with the New England Patriots in 1997, where he recorded a 27-21 win-loss tally over three years, including a playoff berth in 1997. However, after a disappointing 5-11 season in 1999, he transitioned back to college football for more than a decade. Many people seem to forget or even just don't know that he coached the Patriots.

In 2010, Carroll returned to the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, ushering in one of the team's most triumphant eras. He implemented the "Legion of Boom" defense, which emphasized a hard-hitting and physical secondary, making the Seahawks' defense one of the most intimidating in the NFL. This is one of the best defenses to ever win a Super Bowl.

His leadership saw the Seahawks make frequent playoff appearances, reach several NFC Championships, and make another Super Bowl appearance in 2014 (Super Bowl XLIX), although they were defeated by the New England Patriots in a memorable game. His style comes off as a motivator. He gets his players to play hard for him and do exactly what he wants. That's what the Raiders need.

With his departure from the Seahawks after the 2023 season, many thought that he would retire. But, the Chicago Bears and Raiders showed interest. Now, he is back in coaching, as the head coach of the Raiders.
