The Las Vegas Raiders have been holding their breath after running back Ashton Jeanty suffered an ankle sprain during training camp practice. There wasn’t much info on the situation, at least not publicly. What we do know is that Jeanty hasn’t been practicing with the Raiders. Well, wasn’t–he participated a bit on Tuesday for the first time since.

According to several reporters and writers who attended practice, Jeanty was alive and well on Tuesday. Now, he wasn’t practicing with the team. However, in the practices following his injury, he wasn’t even outside. On Tuesday, he was working on the side with trainers and such. So, that’s great news for Week 1. However, that doesn’t mean he will play. It doesn’t mean he won’t, either.

Week 1 may not be a bad time to sit Ashton Jeanty, even if he is healthy

The Miami Dolphins are a team many expect to be among the worst in football. They have a defense that doesn’t have a ton to be excited about. Their starting defensive line isn’t very good on paper. However, it has some potential. The second and third units are pretty putrid. The Dolphins could end up having the worst secondary in football in 2026. Having Jeanty rest while rookie RB Mike Washington gets some work wouldn’t be a bad idea.

And the next week, they will need Jeanty. They play their first AFC West game against the Los Angeles Chargers. If they want even a shot at the playoffs, you have to win your divisional games. Who knows what they plan to do. But it’s obvious that right now, he won’t miss the first four games. Of course, setbacks could always happen. But this is a guy they need for the entire season. We know ankle injuries could be tedious. So, let’s see what the Raiders decided to do with Jeanty, whether healthy or not.
