Last season, the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders had two very hard-fought matchups. Of course, the Raiders have won the last seven now, so we know how those two games ended for the Silver and Black.

In both of those games, we got to watch two of the best in the league at their position go head to head. Davante Adams is the best receiver in the league, to me, and you can't argue he isn't in the top three.

Patrick Surtain, of the Broncos, is the best cornerback, or top two, in the league. It's either him or Sauce Gardner. Last year, though, Adams got the best of Surtain both times. In the first game, he did his thing, with over 100 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The second game saw Adams have the game-winning touchdown on Surtain at the very last minute, too. That is just what Adams does.

However, the advanced stats have come out about their matchup last game, and it didn't look the same as the previous two times. Adams got outplayed.

Pat Surtain II had 20 single coverage reps against Davante Adams, and in those reps, Surtain won the battle.

In six targets, he allowed just two receptions for 11 yards. Surtain also had three pass breakups and one questionable defensive pass interference.

It seems that maybe Surtain learned from the two matchups a year ago. Let's hope that Surtain doesn't get the best of Adams the next time they meet.
