Raiders to bring back McMahon

The Raiders, who are expected to bring in almost a completely new staff, will be keeping one familiar face around. According to Tom Pelissero, the Raiders will retain special teams coordinator Tom McMahon, who did a fine job with the special teams this last year.

There were some blunders, like every team has. But there were also some really good moments, particularly in the return game and the punt game. McMahon, who has the experience, is a great piece to keep around.

McMahon has had a substantial career in the NFL as a special teams coordinator. He began his NFL coaching journey in 2007 with the Atlanta Falcons. From 2009 to 2011, he served as the special teams coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, now the Los Angeles Rams.

In 2012, McMahon took on the same role with the Kansas City Chiefs, but his stint there was short. He then moved to the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent five seasons from 2013 to 2017. During this period, his units were among the league's best, with players like Pat McAfee, Adam Vinatieri, and Matt Overton earning Pro Bowl nods.

McMahon later joined the Denver Broncos from 2018 to 2021. In 2022, he reunited with coach Josh McDaniels at the Las Vegas Raiders, where he continues to serve as the special teams coordinator into the 2025 season. His career is marked by consistent performance in special teams, with his units often ranking high in league statistics for punting and field goals.
