Over the last half decade and even more, the Las Vegas Raiders have had one playoff season, and even then, they failed to win the postseason game. They have yet to win a postseason game in over twenty years, and yet, they continue to put together bad regimes. I know we have said this before, but this time does feel different.

The Las Vegas Raiders have hired Pete Carroll as their head coach, which is as good a hire as they have had in a long time. He has won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks over the Denver Broncos and went to another one against the New England Patriots, but unfortunately lost.

They hired John Spytek as their general manager. Spytek played a role in bringing Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, won a Super Bowl with the Broncos and Bucs, and drafted and developed an elite roster in Tampa over the last few years. So, yes, this time does feel a bit different.

And, it helps that the two are working together so well already. In fact. I'm willing to say that Pete Carroll is already doing what the last two guys in the position on the staff failed to do. Antonio Pierce and Josh McDaniels couldn't do what Pete Carroll has already done, and he hasn't even coached a game yet.

Raiders' Pete Carroll has already assembled best staff

With the Las Vegas Raiders bringing back defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, defensive line coach Rob Leonard, and signing Chip Kelly as the offensive coordinator, and all the other staff changes and retains they have made, the Raiders are finally set up to have an elite staff.

They have not had an elite staff under the previous two regimes. And, you can argue all you want that they did, but they didn't. They have had an elite defensive staff, but both sides make up the staff as a whole. And, they have had offensive staff members get fired during the season in both regimes, and that's just not okay.

This time around, they have guys who have been established and established themselves as a team that has a staff that knows how to win. This is different, and this is all Pete Carroll and John Spytek's doing.
