Adding talent for Justin Herbert's offense will likely be towards the top of Jim Harbaugh's to-do list this offseason.

Trading for a potential WR1, alongside young stud Ladd McConkey, could be a door that Los Angeles wants to open. DK Metcalf has requested a trade from the Seattle Seahawks. Could that option satisfy the Chargers' hopes?

Potential DK Metcalf trade for Chargers

The Chargers had some intrigue last offseason in trading for the Seahawks wideout. Seattle simply did not want to move him at that time. Now, that situation has been adjusted due to the push of Metcalf and other factors.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are one of three teams in the trade market for the Pro Bowl wide receiver. The Metcalf market could expand, but the Houston Texans and New England Patriots are the other two teams of note so far.

For Los Angeles, Metcalf would provide a big-body downfield target that the team does not currently have.

Quentin Johnston has some stature other than him, but he's not proven to be successful in contested catch situations or shown that he will use his size to the best of its ability. That's a big piece missing from his game.

Additionally, Joshua Palmer, one of the bigger passing game options for the Chargers in recent years, is an impending free agent this offseason. It is unknown if he will be back for Los Angeles.

Metcalf seems to fit a need for the Chargers and Harbaugh. Will they pull the trigger to pay up in draft compensation to land him? That remains to be seen.
