Chargers get concerning Justin Herbert update at the worst possible time that can completely derail their season
Justin Herbert is dealing with a hand injury that needs surgery.
The Los Angeles Chargers got a major scare in Week 13. Star quarterback Justin Herbert injured his non-throwing hand when he took a hard hit while scrambling. After the tackle, he exited shortly and was looked at in the locker room but later returned. Herbert led the Bolts to a victory, but the postgame update regarding his status was a bit concerning for fans.
Justin Herbert needs surgery for hand injury
According to Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, Herbert has a break in his left hand and will have surgery on Monday. He is unsure if the star QB will miss time for the Bolts.
Herbert, on the other hand, isn’t planning on missing any time due to the surgery or his injury. When asked about it, he said that he is treating next Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles like he will play.
“I’m treating it as if I’m playing Monday.” — Justin Herbert
After suffering the injury in the first quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders, Herbert wore a large glove on his left hand to protect it. It was notably bulky, and the QB even altered his hand-off technique for his running backs to avoid potential harm to the hand. We will see if he’s able to hit the field for LA next Monday against the Eagles. If he can’t, expect backup QB Trey Lance to start in his place.
