The Los Angeles Chargers finished the season on a tough note with their blowout loss to the Houston Texans last weekend. One of their top young players on defense made a huge admission following the defeat.

Daiyan Henley injury

Henley announced on Sunday that he played most of this season with a torn labrum. He suffered the injury in Week 4.

The Chargers linebacker was a defensive playmaker for Los Angeles for much of this season. In a linebacker room with plenty of question marks, he became the most consistent force at the position.

Playing through that sort of injury is not easy, and that's extremely impressive for a player as young as Henley.

Henley totaled 147 tackles this season, the eighth-most in the entire NFL. His pass coverage was especially notable for a young linebacker as well.

“He’s had an All-Star season, he’s had a Pro-Bowl season. He’s going from shining star to superstar, I think he’s reached it and playing his best football.”

— Jim Harbaugh on Henley

The linebacker was able to play in every single regular season game for Los Angeles, and he finished the Wild Card loss to the Texans with 10 total tackles. That was tied with safety Alohi Gilman for the most on the team.

Henley will undergo surgery this offseason. More updates to come regarding his return to the field. For the Chargers, they're excited about his future for their defense.
