Los Angeles is set to bring in University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to interview for their head coaching position. The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Over the last few seasons, Harbaugh has had plenty of interest from the NFL and he obviously has interest in it. Fresh off of a National Championship win against Washington, Harbaugh could be making the jump to the NFL and the Chargers make sense. Most importantly, they’ll be getting the first shot to interview him.
Harbaugh going to the Chargers makes plenty of sense when you look at the team. They have a franchise quarterback in place with Justin Herbert and there is plenty of talent throughout the roster.
There are going to be other teams interested in bringing Harbaugh back to the NFL, such as the Las Vegas Raiders. Harbaugh has been out of professional football since leading the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14. Harbaugh has been at Michigan since 2015.
Next week will be a big one for the Chargers — as they take big steps toward filling a head coach position — and then a general manager job.
