A pivotal point for the Los Angeles Chargers franchise is coming up and that will be the hire of their next head coach and general manager.
A reported list of potential targets for the coaching job includes some big names. Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh headlines the list hot off of a College Football Playoff win over Alabama. It is rumored that the New England Patriots could be moving on with longtime head coach Bill Belichick and that’s another name that could be to watch for Los Angeles. Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy were made clear too.
Justin Herbert will be in his fifth season with the Chargers next year and he’s been one of the league’s best since being drafted. Los Angeles can’t afford to waste years of his second contract that will begin after next season. Things never came to a peak with Brandon Staley at the helm, so the franchise desperately needs this hire to go right.
You have the big names in Harbaugh and Belichick. Quinn coached the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020 and has been leading the Cowboys’ defense since 2021. The Dallas defense has been impressive and he’s been rumored to a few jobs over the last couple of years.
Bienemy is yet to get a head coaching job, instead leaving his OC job next to Andy Reid in Kansas City to call plays for the Commanders.
After the Week 18 games are decided, Black Monday will happen and teams will get into the hiring phase. A few names are looking like interests for the Chargers.
