The Los Angeles Chargers hired – not only a coach in the offseason – but also a motivator and leader. Jim Harbaugh is a unique character that has found success and built juggernaut programs in college and pro football.

Off the field, he is a passionate person, too. He has often discussed what events in his lifetime have molded him into the coach that he is today. This week, he took that to a new level via Adam Schefter.

Harbaugh detailed his "rules to live by" to the ESPN insider.

Check out the full list of rules below.

  • Seek first the Kingdom of God and all else be added onto you.
  • Attack each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
  • Who could possibly have it better than you?
  • Better today than yesterday – Better tomorrow than today.
  • Heroes have no days off.
  • Your rate is in your hands. Think, innovate, find solutions. By your talent and effort you will be known.
  • Choose a great role model, watch em'- emulate em' – then make them proud.
  • A smile, being pleasant is a small price to pay for the good will and affection of others.
  • Discipline yourself daily to be physically fit for life.
  • GREAT EFFORT – GREAT RESULTS!
  • Stop trying to win all your fights in the first round.
  • What we do in life echo's in eternity.
  • Seek long & trusting friendships by being happy & helpful for the another guy's success.
  • The best customer is a satisfied one.
