The Los Angeles Chargers' worst nightmare just came true on Tuesday.

This season was more than a disaster for the Chargers – a team who had playoff hopes and at least a win in the first round. Instead, they are staring down the barrel of a top-10 pick in the draft. That would be good if they didn't already have a franchise quarterback; they could get one.

But they do. Well, they do in 2024, as the recent news would suggest they do not for the remainder of the 2023 season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Justin Herbert is out for the season following surgery to repair the broken index finger on his right hand. That means backup Easton Stick will get his time to shine for the remainder of the season, including this week against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.

As if this year couldn't get worse, now we don't get to watch Herbert, one of the best quarterbacks in the league, play.
