The Los Angeles Chargers are wasting no time making impactful moves for next season along both sides of the football. The latest addition makes a ton of sense when you consider their coaching staff activity on offense this offseason.

Chargers add familiar face for OC Mike McDaniel

According to Tom Pelissero, the Chargers are signing fullback Alec Ingold to a two-year, $7.5 million contract. He is now tied for the lead in pay at his position around the NFL.

This move makes a ton of sense for LA. McDaniel found unique and effective ways to get the ball to Ingold in space. He was impressive with the new Chargers OC as his play caller. Additionally, the Bolts’ aggressive nature on the free agent market with recently released players is a smart plan to add veteran talent.

“Chargers front office comes from Baltimore, where the Ravens are known to preserve the comp pick formula by signing released players. L.A. does just that this week by adding C Tyler Biadasz and FB Alec Ingold.” — Jeremy Fowler

Ingold’s impact for Chargers offense under McDaniel

“Ingold is a terrific locker room presence who knows the McDaniel offense like the back of his hand. His four years in Miami were productive and he proved to be an essential piece of the puzzle thanks to his ability to handle a slew of creative motions from McDaniel’s mind and bring them to life.

The consistency of connecting on his blocks is a little less regular than it was in his first two seasons in Miami but when Ingold is dialed in, he’s a force multiplier in the run game. Expect a lot of 21p, Chargers fans.” — Kyle Crabbs

The Chargers have already added a potential starting center in Tyler Biadasz and one of the best fullbacks in football. We will see how they attack free agency alongside the rest of the league this week.
