The Los Angeles Chargers continue to search for their next head coach, and they're showing interest one of the more prominent candidates.

Per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel is interviewing in L.A. Thursday. It's also the first reported interview for Vrabel since being fired from Tennessee last week.

Mike Vrabel coaching profile

Following a 14-year playing career in the NFL, Vrabel's coaching career got started with his alma mater, Ohio State, as the linebacker and defensive line coach. Two years later, he then came back to the league to coach linebackers for the Houston Texans. He was named the Texans' defensive coordinator a year later.

In January of 2018, Vrabel made his full ascension up the coaching ranks and became the Tennessee Titans' 19th head coach in franchise history. Vrabel went 54-45 in six seasons in Nashville, as well as earning AP NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2021 when the Titans went 12-5.

Vrabel established a winning culture with the Titans, and absolutely could emulate that with the Chargers. He connects with players extremely well, which is no surprise as a former players and three-time Super Bowl champion himself, and his track record for maximizing rosters speaks for itself.

The Chargers have already met with other well known coaches such as Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, and according to Pelissero, they're scheduled to meet with Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn.

L.A. has a type they're vetting. Vrabel fits the bill of what they're searching for.
