The Los Angeles Chargers own a massively important selection in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. You could argue that the fifth pick decides precisely how the rest of the top ten picks go following it. As for mock drafts, the Chargers have widely been expected to take a wide receiver, offensive tackle, or trade back.
This week, the Chargers are meeting with a high profile defensive prospect expected to get picked in the top fifteen.
Alabama pass rusher Dallas Turner will meet with the Chargers on Tuesday and Wednesday for a top 30 visit.
Of course, LA could just be doing their due diligence with Turner. He is very talented. The Chargers still have veterans Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack on the roster off the edge.
Los Angeles' needs at wideout and offensive line are certainly more pressing than pass rusher. It'd be quite surprising to see them forego those two spots in round one, but you cannot rule anything out with a new HC in Jim Harbaugh.
An elite athlete with all you could want for traits, it’s no secret why Turner has the chance to be the first defender, much less pass rusher off the board. With a long arm technique, forceful hands and tremendous burst, Turner will be a handful for tackles and guards from day one. But if he rounds out his arsenal of pass rush moves, then lookout, as the sky is the ceiling on what he can be.

Turner would be a solid addition to the Chargers defense, but I still lean that they will attack the offensive side of the ball early in the draft to help QB Justin Herbert.
