Pro Football Focus has released their most improved players from each NFL roster in 2024.

For the Los Angeles Chargers, they selected fourth-year safety Elijah Molden. A former third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2021, Molden was traded to the Chargers after the 2024 preseason in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick.

That turned out to be a heck of a value for Los Angeles. During 15 games with the Chargers in the regular season, Molden made 12 starts and recorded 75 total tackles, three interceptions, and seven passes defensed – all career highs.

Molden did not allow a receiving touchdown on the season and opposing quarterbacks had a lowly 44.8 passer rating against him. That performance earned him a 75.6 grade from PFF. The Chargers finished the year with the seventh ranked pass defense in the NFL.

Unfortunately, Molden's season ended prematurely in Week 17 with a broken fibula. That is an injury that typically heals within three months, so he should be ready to for OTAs in May. Molden is set to hit free agency this spring, and it remains unclear whether or not the Chargers will try to re-sign him.

If not, he should get plenty of interest on the open market. He may need to accept a short-term deal as teams could be weary of his injury situation. Molden also missed most of the 2022 season with a groin injury. Still just 25-years-old, Molden can carve out a nice career for himself if he can stay healthy.
