The Los Angeles Chargers have had some bumps and bruises over the past month of play. Their Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a cherry on top and arguably their worst overall performance so far.

Their run defense got shredded. Baker Mayfield lit up the secondary, particularly in the second half. The offense had zero running game, and Justin Herbert took a lot of hits, once again.

After the loss, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was honest about the coaching his staff did that lead to the blowout. He did not shy away from taking it on the chin.

Harbaugh takes blame

The Chargers head coach wasn't looking to push blame onto his players. Instead, Harbaugh felt that the team's struggles against Tampa were due to the coaching.

"I'm not going to speculate right now."

"It's on the coaching, it's on us all right now."

Harbaugh on the offensive struggles

Clearly, the veteran HC did not believe the players did not do their job. Instead, the preparation was not good enough from the staff, and they did not adjust enough once the game began. I'd tend to agree there after watching the debacle for Los Angeles on Sunday.

Regardless, Harbaugh's willingness to put his neck out there probably means plenty to his players.

They're probably disappointed with their performance as well, but they didn't get thrown under the bus by their emotional, fiery leader.

Harbaugh will probably right the ship for the Chargers over the next few weeks, but the pressure is on with an AFC West matchup with the Denver Broncos looming on Thursday Night Football for Week 16.
