The Los Angeles Chargers are making waves around the NFL. They’re undefeated after three weeks of play against division opponents, and they have their quarterback to thank for a large chunk of their success so far this season. We all know head coach Jim Harbaugh appreciates Justin Herbert.

Against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, Herbert jumped over a massive hurdle in order to help LA grab the victory.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert overcomes ridiculous pressure numbers

According to Next Gen Stats, Herbert was pressured on more than half of his drop backs against Denver. The talented front line of the Broncos got to Herbert consistently, but he still found ways to make plays and pick up yards when it meant the most. He also took care of the football for the most part as well.

Not to mention, with multiple depth players in the trenches ahead of him in the fourth quarter, Herbert didn’t shy away from he challenge. Instead, he played his absolute best, including an unbelievable touchdown throw to Keenan Allen.

In the final period of play, Herbert was 12/15 through the air for 123 yards and a touchdown. He also helped the unit pick up nine first downs.

Injuries along the offensive line for Los Angeles

The offensive line for LA is already without star tackle Rashawn Slater. Week 3 wasn’t kind to them, either.

Starting guard Mekhi Becton was forced to leave the matchup due to injury. He was replaced by Jamaree Salyer. Trey Pipkins was also in and out of the lineup against the Broncos at right tackle. He’s the replacement for Slater, but Austin Deculus saw some time in place of him during Week 3. We will see what the health of the OL looks like entering Week 4, but Los Angeles was feeling the constant changes against Denver.

All in all, another big-time performance from Justin Herbert and some of his pass catchers was the difference in this game. During crunch time, they stepped up. Now, the Chargers hold sole possession of the AFC West with room to spare.
