Los Angeles Chargers 2 time Pro Bowler carted off the field after suffering apparent leg injury at practice Thursday
Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl tackle suffers serious leg injury at practice.
Injuries are a part of football, and unfortunately, they can occur at the worst moment and to players their teams can’t afford to lose. The injury occurred Thursday at Chargers camp, as star left tackle Rashawn Slater went down with what looks to be a serious leg injury.
Reports from camp describe Slater going down at practice, and immediately, trainers ran out to care for the two-time Pro Bowler. Per beat reporter Daniel Popper, “the cart was brought out, and teammates all came up to hug him.”
Slater signed a massive $114 million extension with the team in July, making him the highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL.
If Slater suffered a serious injury, the Chargers could be without their cornerstone left tackle for the most of, if not all of the 2025 season. Slater’s absence, of course, would be a massive loss for the Chargers and would give the team much to think about with how they reshuffle their offensive line.
The most likely scenario would be moving 2024 first-round pick Joe Alt over to left tackle from right tackle and then having swing tackle Trey Pipkins step in on the right side. The team could also look to add a veteran who may still be available.
We will await confirmation, but it appears the Chargers have hit their first hurdle early on in the 2025 NFL season.
