Los Angeles Chargers star pass rusher suffers injury which knocked him out of the Monday Night matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders
Khalil Mack suffered an arm injury which knocked him out of the game Monday Night.
Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack was forced out of Sunday’s game against the Raiders after injuring his elbow in the first half. Mack headed to the medical tent early, and by halftime, he was spotted on the sideline in a sling without his pads. The team initially listed him as questionable to return, but he did not re-enter the game.
The injury comes at a tough time for the 34-year-old veteran, who remains one of the most essential pieces of the Chargers’ defense. Mack has recorded 31 sacks since 2021, including a huge 17-sack season just last year. He also notched his first sack of the 2025 campaign before leaving Sunday’s matchup.
“Guys are going to step up. Pray for Khalil, but guys got to step up,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said when asked how the team will move forward after Mack’s injury coming out of halftime.
Mack’s absence is particularly significant after the team moved on from Joey Bosa this offseason, leaving Mack as the leader of the edge unit. Without him, Los Angeles will have to lean more heavily on veterans like Bud Dupree, younger contributors such as Tuli Tuipulotu – who broke out with 8.5 sacks in 2024 – and rookies Kyle Kennard and Caleb Murphy.
The Chargers’ pass rush could suffer if Mack misses extended time. His experience and disruptive presence off the edge aren’t easily replaced, and the defense will need others to step up to keep the pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
