The Los Angeles Rams have built a strong core of young talents like Puka Nacua, Jared Verse, Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Steve Avila, and others, but have balanced it out with some key veterans like Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams. Many of those young players are eligible for extensions in the offseason, and are expected to be locked down by the Rams – if they agree to those deals.

Adams has been around the league, spending time with the Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets before joining the Rams this season. After spending time around the league, Adams is convinced that the Rams are “the place to be” and is doing whatever it takes to convince the young stars on the Rams that there is no better place to play.

Davante Adams emphatically defends the Rams

Appearing on the Stephen A. Smith Show on Tuesday, Adams emphatically defended the culture and environment that the Rams have cultivated in the building and that he tells young players on the team all the time that “the grass isn’t greener” in the rest of the league.

“I already do that now, especially when I talk to these guys – Konata Mumpfield and some of these guys that are in the receiver room now. Even Puka. I say, ‘Look, man. I don’t care what you’ve seen me do, forcing trades, ending up playing with an old friend or whatever the case may be. I don’t care if it’s a coach that you’ve always wanted to play for.’ I always tell them the same thing over at this building. I say, ‘Hey man, it ain’t greener than this.’ I jumped around and tried a few things. That’s truly what my heart told me to do. I made some calculated decisions with my wife, my family, even the clubs. After being here in this Rams facility, this organization, I just let them know, ‘It ain’t going to be greener than this. Whatever it is, I don’t care what you’ve got to do, make sure you stay in this building and just appreciate a building like this. Just take my word for it.”

Adams followed up his statement by saying he hopes that his journey with the Rams is his “last stop” in his career, supporting his belief in what the Rams are doing in the building. As long as he is with Stafford and McVay, he’s happy and content.

Most of the time, a player saying this feels generic or sometimes forced, but Adams has seen the way the rest of the league operates. He is also not the first player to say this about the Rams, as seemingly every player who has joined the Rams under McVay has offered similar sentiments or discussed how being in Los Angeles revitalized their career (ala Baker Mayfield).

It’s a testament to the culture and environment that Sean McVay has built in the building, where he has effectively balanced being all-business with being a genuinely good “people coach” who supports his players no matter what.
