The Los Angeles Rams have never shied away from making splash moves under general manager Les Snead, earning his affectionate “F*** them picks” moniker from fans and analysts across the league. Even after making one blockbuster deal for cornerback Trent McDuffie, the Rams reportedly checked in on one more deal before breaking off and looking elsewhere.

According to The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini, the Rams “discussed” a trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown but have moved on since. The asking price for Brown is considered to be steep, and I doubt the Rams were ready to pay that price after adding McDuffie.

A.J. Brown trade talk a hint of Rams offseason plans?

This isn’t the first time the Rams have been involved in talks of a big move at wide receiver. A few offseasons ago, they tried to add Mike Evans before he returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last season, even after adding Davante Adams, they desperately tried to trade up for Tetairoa McMillan.

The last time we heard this much buzz surrounding a position group with the Rams was at tight end. LA tried to move up for Dalton Kincaid and Brock Bowers in back-to-back drafts before adding Terrance Ferguson as their top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

To me, this tells me the Rams are looking to add a wide receiver early on in the 2026 NFL Draft, perhaps at the 13th overall pick in the first round. Given the type of player they’ve targeted (outside X WR/man coverage beater), Ohio State’s Carnell Tate or Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson make the most sense for the team.

The Rams are likely looking to add a successor for Davante Adams’ position opposite of Puka Nacua. With Nacua’s likely mammoth extension coming this offseason, it’d be smart business for the Rams to have that cheap wide receiver contract opposite of Nacua to help keep their books clean. It’s notable, however, that they seemingly might not care about the price point for the right player.
