Los Angeles Rams fans get two wins for the price of one in Matthew Stafford’s MVP victory
Matthew Stafford is your NFL MVP, and he hinted at his plans for the 2026 season in his acceptance speech.
Los Angeles Rams superstar quarterback Matthew Stafford has finally won an NFL MVP, narrowly beating out New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye for the honor. Stafford’s MVP marks the fifth time a Rams’ player has won MVP.
After Rams fans fought and argued to plead his case for MVP despite missing out on the Super Bowl this season, fans finally get their wish as Stafford won MVP in the closest margin in over two decades. The 2025 NFL MVP race was the closest since Peyton Manning and Steve McNair shared the award in 2003. Stafford beat out Maye 366–361 in total points, winning 24 first-place votes to Maye’s 23.
However, somehow, Stafford’s MVP wasn’t the biggest victory of the night for Rams fans.
Matthew Stafford announces plans to return for 2026
With the way the 2025 season ended, there was a fair cause for concern about Stafford’s decision to return for the 2026 season. He was battered at the end of the season, but continued his unbelievable heroics into narrowly missing out on the Super Bowl despite a stellar performance against an elite Seattle Seahawks defense in the NFC Championship game.
However, Stafford put those doubts to rest at his MVP acceptance speech.
“To my four beautiful daughters who I am lucky enough to be sharing the stage with… I am so happy to have you at the games, on the sideline with me, and I can’t wait for you to cheer me on next year when we’re out there kicking ass,” Stafford said. “And so I’ll see you guys next year. Hopefully, I’m not at this event and we’re getting ready for another game at SoFi.”
Stafford’s return is a much-needed shot in the arm for both the Rams’ organization and fans. After enduring the two offseasons of controversy surrounding his return, Stafford slammed the door shut on any speculation, confirming that he will be back for one more run in Los Angeles.
Now, the Rams have to do whatever it takes to make another Super Bowl happen.
