The sweepstakes for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford are heating up.

According to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants have each discussed two-year contract for Stafford that includes $90-100M guaranteed. He could still remain with the Rams, as he is set to meet with them today and discuss his future with the team.

Last week Stafford's agent was granted permission to speak with other teams about his value, but it was not a formal trade request. Thanks to the Raiders and Giants, we now have an idea of what that value is. The next step is for the Rams to determine if they want to outbid those teams. If they do, it then comes down to Stafford deciding if he wants to remain in Los Angeles or get a fresh start elsewhere.

One factor the Rams can consider is that another veteran QB, Aaron Rodgers, has expressed interest in playing for the franchise (H/T Pat Leonard of NYDN Sports).

Comparing Rodgers and Stafford statistically, Rodgers threw for more yards (3,897) and touchdowns (28) than Stafford in 2024. Stafford had a higher completion percentage (65.8) than Rodgers and less interceptions (eight). Rodgers also believes he could persuade his longtime teammate Davante Adams to join him in L.A. and complement Puka Nacua at wide receiver.

Rodgers would likely come cheaper than Stafford, as his past contract with the New York Jets gave him $75 million guaranteed. The Rams would also receive more draft capitol by trading Stafford, allowing them to fill other roster holes within their team. L.A. could go in a totally different direction than Rodgers and Stafford and draft a QB. One of our A to Z Sports draft gurus, Destin Adams, recently mocked Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart to the Rams at 26th overall.
