‘That noise is coming from somewhere’ — Colts player sparks controversy with a hefty accusation about the Rams and their SoFi Stadium environment

At least Cam Bynum gave the fanbase itself a compliment?

One of the best matchups we’ll see in Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season will come when the undefeated Indianapolis Colts go head-to-head with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams will be looking to wash the taste of Week 3’s collapse to the Philadelphia Eagles out of their mouth for what will be the team’s first home game in three weeks.

But Colts safety Cam Bynum seems to think that the friendly confines in Los Angeles are getting a little extra boost. Bynum, who made a podcast appearance with Colts teammate Josh Downs, accused the Rams of juicing crowd noise at home games this week ahead of Sunday’s contest.

Colt safety Cam Bynum accuses the Rams of piping crowd noise through the speakers at SoFi Stadium

“(The Rams) play fake crowd noise because their crowd isn’t that turnt. The Rams have a good fanbase, but they’ve moved around so much that it’s not like true fans. It’s more of like a celebrity show in there. It’s like, yeah, I know this is fake…because on third downs, you see the crowd is sitting down, but somehow there’s noise coming from somewhere. We were just looking around last year, we’re like, ‘Hold on, that noise is coming from the speakers. Because this crowd, nobody’s turnt up right now.’”

Bynum was wise to give the Rams fanbase their flowers as a good group, or else this already aggressive suggestion could have made him public enemy No. 1 on Sunday when the Colts and Rams square off. Maybe it still will.

But making a suggestion like this should not be taken lightly. It was just 10 years ago that another NFC franchise, the Atlanta Falcons, was docked a fifth-round draft selection for pumping fake noise through the speaker system. That happened in 2015. It feels unlikely that comments from Bynum will move the needle with the league. But they surely will move the needle with Rams fans — and it should give those same fans a little extra edge to get loud as the Rams look to move to 3-1.
