The Las Vegas Raiders have been big spenders in free agency so far, and they still have a little bit of cash to use before they start saving for their rookie draft class. However, they have far too many needs remaining to address them all in free agency, one of which is more cornerback depth.

Luckily, around this time, other teams will be releasing players due to poor play, saving money, or because the player needs a fresh start. Former AFC West rival L’Jarius Sneed, who played for the Kansas City Chiefs at an elite level—top-five CB level, actually, and the Tennessee Titans, was just released.

If the Raiders can get a good physical on Sneed, who’s been banged up a ton, and the price is right, they should absolutely offer him a deal. Vegas needs some depth behind Eric Stokes and Darien Porter, as most of the guys they had last year have not been brought back yet, and frankly, don’t need to be brought back. If they could pull off a move like this for cheap, it would be a low-risk, high-reward move, since Sneed was once elite. Maybe they could try and get that knack out of him while he goes on a prove-it deal.

What did L’Jarius Sneed do in 2025?

In 2025, Sneed played in only seven games, totaling 187 coverage snaps. In those snaps, he allowed 13 completions on 22 targets, with only 19 of those targets being catchable, for 234 yards and three touchdowns, according to Sports Info Solutions.

There’s clearly been a drop off since he was with the Chiefs as one of their best players. They ended up letting him go to the Titans because they couldn’t afford to give Sneed a second contract, nothing to do with his play or health. However, since then, his release has everything to do with both of those.

Now, he likely won’t even think about a deal with the Raiders, so none of this would matter anyway. There’s a legit chance he goes back to the Chiefs. However, the Raiders do need some depth. Would I do the deal? If the price was right, like a very cheap one-year deal, then yes. If not, then no.
