Minnesota Vikings ink eight players to reserve/futures contracts
These players are priority candidates for the 90-man roster heading into the offseason and often have spent significant time on the practice squad. Five of the players whom the Vikings signed on Monday were with the team during training camp.
The two leading players who stand out are at wide receiver. Jones was an undrafted free agent coming out of the 2024 NFL Draft. He tied for the most guaranteed money at 225k and flashed during training camp practices. He didn’t make the team in either season, but remained on the practice squad. There seems to be something there the Vikings can unlock.
The other is Fleming, who was an intriguing option coming out of Tulane. Right away, it appeared that Fleming would be a special-teams-only player. He was buried on the wide receiver depth chart and only got a few reps per practice.
What he showed was some serious flashes during those reps, to the point where I believed there was something worth developing. Apparently, the Vikings agreed and brought him back.
These likely won’t be the only reserve/futures contracts the Vikings sign, but this is a good start.
