It's never too early to look toward the 2025 NFL Draft.

After securing their (likely) quarterback of the future in J.J. McCarthy and edge rusher Dallas Turner last year, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is entering a crucial offseason to set up the potential Super Bowl run that the Minnesota Vikings fanbase has been begging for since the franchise began playing football in the 1961 season.

Vikings take talented CB Shavon Revel Jr. in ESPN mock draft

Mock drafts in December aren't designed to be predictive. What they are meant for is to expose different options for each team and also highlights different positions that could be a target for each team.

The Vikings' needs are pretty easy: cornerback, defensive line, running back and guard. You could end up adding another position or two in there, but hose are the widely agreed upon top four.

ESPN's Field Yates delivered a new mock draft on Wednesday and gave the Vikings a talented cornerback in East Carolina's Shavon Revel Jr.

A torn ACL cut Revel's final season short in September. If not for that, we'd be talking about him much closer to the top 10. Revel has terrific size, speed, acceleration and ball skills, as he snagged two interceptions in three games this season. It's unclear whether Brian Flores will still be the Vikings' defensive coordinator next season (or if he will land a head coach job elsewhere), but it's worth noting that Minnesota dials up pressure and relies on its corners a lot. And with Stephon Gilmore, Byron Murphy Jr. and Shaquill Griffin set to be free agents in March, the Vikings need cover guys like Revel.

Getting youth at cornerback should be a priority for the Vikings this offseason. They have just two cornerbacks under contract for 2025: Mekhi Blackmon and Dwight McGlothern. It's inarguable that the Vikings will make at least 2-3 moves at cornerback between now and the NFL Draft, but that doesn't mean it will change their need at cornerback come April.

Reven is coming off of a torn ACL, which will give fans some trepidation after what happened with 2022 second-round pick Andrew Booth Jr. However, he can flat-out ball. I gave him a first-round grade with his size, length, coverage skills and athleticism all being plus traits for him.

Will the Vikings take a cornerback come April and will Revel even be in play for them considering he was projected to be a fringe top 10 pick pre-injury? If he does make it to the Vikings, they should sprint up to the podium with the card.
